Learning a language as an adult can feel daunting. I started my Italian journey with no background and a simple goal: to one day order a coffee in Rome and understand the reply. Here is the roadmap I've been following.
Start with sound
Italian is famously phonetic — words are pronounced how they're written. Spending the first week just listening and repeating built a foundation that made everything after it easier.
Build a daily habit
- Ten minutes of vocabulary every morning
- One short podcast episode during a walk
- A single written sentence each night
Consistency beats intensity. A little every day compounds quietly.
